Event Details

No one would expect that a small Chicago company could compete in the world of contract manufacturing of electronic products. But, LACE Technologies not only competes but succeeds. The major reason: LACE is a leader in the use of lead-free production methods, processes and technology.

Lead-free manufacturing is rapidly becoming a requirement around the world for electronic products. This is a response to the fact that such products are becoming a larger part of landfills, with the prospect of leaching hazardous chemicals into the water supply. The deadline for manufacturing lead-free in Europe was July 2006. California is expected to require lead-free processing in the near future as is China. See www.leadfree.org for information.

Manufacturing companies that need to transition to lead-free must change their parts, boards, process equipment etc. Instead of spending millions of dollars on engineering and new equipment, they can come to LACE. Using LACE's expertise and the high-quality solder of its sister company, Qualiteck; LACE is becoming a significant player in free-free manufacturing of electronic products, with facilities not only in the U.S. but in Europe and Asia as well.

The story of LACE is a story of how small U.S. companies can use technology to compete successfully on the world stage.
